becoming a snow bunny: a six step approach

Step 1. Approach snow with suspicion.

Do not, under any circumstances, walk unassisted on this foreign substance.

Step 2. Agree to meet a small snow ambassador.

Become charmed by his agreeable smile and decide that maybe, just maybe, this snow thing isn't as bad as it first appeared.

Offer a conciliatory kiss.

Step 3. Learn how to throw a snowball.

Insist on doing this over and over.

Step 4. Discover that snow is, indeed, the same thing as ice.

Having recently learned how to say the "s" sound, take advantage of every opportunity to demand that a grownup take you over to the convenient wall of "ishe" in the living room so that you can grab a handful and wander around the house with it.

Step 5. No longer afraid of the "ishe", agree to let your parents take you behind the house, plop you down on a plastic disk and hurl you down an incline.

Decide that this is the Best. Thing. Ever. and demand more? more? more?

Step 6. Now a convert, finally decide to believe your parents when they tell you how much fun it will be to pay grand sums of money to slide down steep expanses of snow on long straight planks strapped to torture devices that resemble boots.
